Fun Things to Try Out While Designing your First Website

This summer I decided that I would make my own website which would have a blog, a photography section and few more thing. While designing this website I learnt quite a few cool tricks which anyone can try out for FREE.

Here are some of the cool tips and tricks

1. So firstly, I used WIX to create my website. Now I’m not saying that this is the only way to get started there are tons of other websites but WIX felt like the simplest one to us. This is of course from a beginner’s perspective it helps you out with present themes and simple drag and drop options.

2. Ok so when you’re publishing a website for the first time you may not want to upgrade to a premium plan of buy a domain. But the free URL’s which are provided by these website designing websites are quite lengthy and it isn’t easy to remember them. A way out of this problem is using a URL shortener. Two popular websites for this are https://bitly.com/ and https://tinyurl.com/ which also allows use to customize the aliases of the URL. For example : www.bitly.com/aanthoni is much easier than https://aanthonisouza.WIXsite.com/my-site ,right ?

3. Another cool thing to try is getting your own QR code for your website. It isn’t really that useful, but it adds a kind of professional look to your website and honestly colourful URL’s look kinda amazing. The websites I came across were https://www.qrcode-monkey.com/# and https://www.qr-code-generator.com/.The latter offer more options in terms of box design and texture whereas the former offers different color gradients and resolution quality.

4. If you still aren’t satisfied with the URL shortening method here’s another thing you could do. To use your own custom domain name without using a premium plan you could do just redirect the domain to your WIX website. So, when someone see the website name on a google search result it looks professional but once they click it, it redirects them to your WIX website.

5. Another thing to know is that buying a custom domain for a year is way way cheaper than upgrading your WIX plan. Instead of using the standard .com you could go with a cheaper alternative like .online .tech or .xyz One of the best websites to get such a domain for an affordable price is Hostinger (https://www.hostinger.com/) it sells such domains for only about 1$ (INR 75) for the first year.

FUN FACT : If you think that a domain like .xyz is substandard or looks non-trustworthy consider this. Alphabet, the parent brand of Google, has the website name https://abc.xyz/ quite cool, huh ?

6. Lastly there is a website called https://elfsight.com/ which provides free widgets such as automated chat boxes or testimonial slides or Instagram boxes for free, for a certain number of usage/views per month around 150 which is sufficient especially if you’re a starter.
